What role do you think Takeshi Kaneshiro was best as an actor - not looking good or fabulous 'cause the film was great - but his acting was better than anything else. In my opinion that film is the House of the Flying Daggers.

As for me, I'm sure that TK was great in "The House of the Flying Daggers", but frankly speaking, I haven't seen a single film with him where his acting is disappointing. He's marvellously different every time, but at the same time in each role he is kind of 'sincere'. Paraphrasing the famous Stanislavsky's quote, "I do believe." I've been looking for films with his participation, and here in Russia I've found "Chung King Express", "Fallen Angels", "Downtown Torpedoes", "Ritana", "House of Flying Daggers", and "The Warlords". Through channels of my own I've also found "Lavender" in Chinese with English subtitles. It's even difficult to say where he is best. Everywhere. As Vladimir Vysotsky once wrote, In these days, too, the poets Walk on razors barefoot And – slash to ribbons naked hearts and souls.

Ognyana, you so good wrote your thinkings I don't know english so well like Ognyana, but I will try to write mine opinion)) Be honest, I don't like so much this his role as Jin ("House of Flying Daggers"), I like more his role in one japonese short serial as Keigo ("Kamisama mou sukoshi dake"), and of course as Jakal ("Downtown torpedoes"), as Angel in "Lavender" (I know where you can to download this film in original with eng. & rus. subtitles ), and in Red Cliff much too! In "Accuracy of Death" (or "Sweet Rain") his role is nice too. I noticed that those roles are very different and I think it's great, because he can to pass a character of his hero, but anyway they all have some special, wich can to play only TK, and wich give a charm to heroes. Not long ago I saw "Too tired to die" and now I don't know what to think

Apart from a story... My best role is Keigo Ishikawa(Kamisama mou sukoshidake) ... About"Too tired to die" ,I agree, too. I have a feeling that very strange Japan was projected.

It might be. But I strongly doubt that it will lead him anywhere as far as the acting talent is mentioned (if we forget the universal acclaim and heaps of dough, which might be important though). Unfortunately, it seems to me that Hollywood has turned into a huge conveyorbelt of mediocre films with basically 3 or 4 plots repeating themselves (just remember the famous episode in the Wall when the schoolchildren are marching and falling into a huge meat grinder) and predictable endings. The breakthroughs are very few and wide apart. They claim they know what the public wants. Then in most cases i am not their public. I wonder what is going on on the whole - films tend to grow 'faceless', 'Hollywoodized', or follow the European idea of "stuff them with as much perversion as you can, it's hard to surprise the public". In this b----y country (which I'm ready to die for, such an unrequited love) they feed us Hollywood cud and our 'new cinema' that in many cases follows the same stencils. I wonder why feed us this s--t instead of buying and showing really good things, such as "Supesutoraberazu", or even "Heung joh chow heung yau chow" , etc. If you only knew HOW I got most of the TK movies... "Supesutoraberazu" IS great! It's not only the work of TK, but of Ken Watanabe, and ALL the rest plus the director. As to TK's best role, I hope it still awaits him - as little Hollywood as possible, please?

rabi-san, "Supesutoraberazu" - yes as far as I can see your PC does not have this typing style so that is why you cannot read two letters 'cause they are "a" with a shortening signs _________________ May the Force Be With You!
